Greg Casual Headshot
Greg Mashburn is the District Attorney for District 21 – Cleveland, Garvin, and McClain Counties.
Background:

Greg Mashburn graduated from Idabel High School in 1990 where his mother worked in the McCurtain County DA’s Office for 20 years.

Greg and his family have lived in Norman for almost 30 years.

Education:

Mashburn attended Harding University in Arkansas on a football scholarship, graduating in 1995.

He then obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University Of Oklahoma School Of Law in 1998. During his time in law school, he originally thought he would become a business attorney. However, after completing his first Preliminary Hearing for the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office as an intern, he knew his calling was to prosecute.

Career:

Upon his law school graduation, Mashburn spent a decade as an Assistant District Attorney in Oklahoma County where he built an impressive record, including becoming a Division Chief just six years after he began his career.

Since being elected as the DA for District 21 in January 2007, Greg has reorganized the office to better manage the caseload and ensure that victims are properly cared for in the criminal justice system. This, together with an improved relationship with other law enforcement departments within the district, has led to a dramatic increase in both the quality and success rate of cases which, in turn, will lead to a safer community.

On the state level, he has been appointed by the Oklahoma Bar Association as a member of the District Attorney’s Council. Previously, Greg served as president of the District Attorney’s Council and the Oklahoma District Attorney’s Association.

On January 20th, 2015 Governor Mary Fallin appointed Greg to serve on the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control Commission.

Nationally, Greg serves as Oklahoma’s delegate on the National District Attorney’s Association Board of Directors.

In 2008, Mashburn was named Outstanding District Attorney for the State of Oklahoma after his first year in office. In addition, his and staff have been recognized statewide with numerous awards for excellence.

Greg will begin his fifth term as District Attorney in January of 2023.
