Mission Statement

The mission of the District Attorney is to seek justice, protect our communities, and represent those who have been the victims of crime

The Criminal Division works to protect the public from those who endanger, threaten and degrade the security of the community and to serve the public by protecting the personal rights of the people of District 21 to life, liberty, and security. We enforce the criminal laws of the State of Oklahoma by prosecuting cases aggressively and efficiently in a manner that maximizes public safety and minimizes victimization by creating an environment where victims are treated with dignity, compassion and respect, and by securing for crime victims the treatment to which they are entitled by law and the basic tenets of human decency. We are the last line of defense between the criminal and our neighborhoods.  We are the true public defenders.  Each and every decision that is made in criminal cases by any of us must be made with that in mind.

The Civil Division serves the public by fostering ethical, effective, and efficient government by providing the highest quality legal advice and representation possible to all other governmental agencies within District 21.

To fulfill our mission it is critically important that the citizens whom we serve have confidence in the integrity of the Office of the District Attorney and its employees. Public service is a public trust. Any situation which diminishes the public trust hampers the ability of the Office to accomplish its mission. Employees and volunteers who undertake this public trust must serve the public interest and perform with high personal integrity. Every employee of the Office of the District Attorney must be vigilant to recognize and to avoid those instances and circumstances which can give rise to either the reality, or even the appearance, of impropriety. Always remember that when people see us and how we conduct ourselves, it reflects upon this office.  We are held to a higher standard because of who we are and what we do.

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the District Attorney believes that the interests of this Office and its employees are bound closely together. The District Attorney believes in dealing with people honestly and in an atmosphere of mutual trust. Inherent in this philosophy are certain shared standards of conduct. Among these are humane and consistent treatment of employees, including providing employees with clear directions concerning what is expected, high quality prosecution and legal services, regular attendance, a strong work ethic, and strong personal integrity that keeps faith with the public trust.

All employees are required to conform their conduct to this philosophy in order to further the mission of the Office.  The District 21 District Attorney’s Office should set the standard for the rest of the State.  We can be the type of office that others strive to emulate.  Our mission is to do just that, and our citizens should expect no less.
